Q: DOES LA CASA SERENIDAD HAVE A TELEPHONE FOR USE?
A.  Yes, there is a pay phone located on the kitchen counter that uses calling cards that must be purchased locally. They can be purchased at Mega for 100, 200, 300, 400 or 500 pesos.  To call Casa Serenidad from the states, dial 011-521-624-113-6183

Q: WILL MY CELL PHONE WORK IN LOS CABOS?
A: Most cell phones work in Los Cabos, but first check with your local provider for service and dialing instructions.

Q: WILL I BE ABLE TO ACCESS THE INTERNET?
A: Internet Cafes are located throughout Los Cabos. Wireless internet is also available.

Q: WHAT DOCUMENTS WILL I NEED TO ENTER MEXICO?
A: Please check with the Mexican Consulate for required documents. A valid passport is required.

Q: ARE THERE GOOD RESTAURANTS?
A: Cabo San Lucas and San Jose Del Cabo offer many first class restaurants. Local cuisine is also available and is very good and safe to eat.

Q: WHAT IS THE TYPICAL WEATHER?
A: Normally, the sun shines year round. The annual average temperature is 78 degrees. It can be hot and humid during August and September. During the winter months it is cooler, requiring light jackets or sweaters in the evening.

Q: ARE RENTAL CARS AVAILABLE?
A: Rental cars are readily available at the airport. It’s best to reserve a car before arrival. Four wheel drive vehicles are not required, but may be desirable for driving to Cabo Pulmo, or local surfing beaches.

Q: IS THE WATER SAFE TO DRINK?
A: Drinking water is purchased locally and available at La Casa Serenidad in five liter jugs and is safe to drink.

Q: ARE THERE GROCERY STORES?
A: There are numerous choices for food and grocery stores in Los Cabos, including Costco and Wal-Mart.

Q: WHERE CAN I PLAY GOLF?
A: Los Cabos is Mexico’s # 1 golf resort destination. Golf courses are available along the corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo.

Q: WHERE CAN I SCUBA DIVE?
A: Numerous companies offer excellent local dive trips. Cabo Pulmo is one of three living reefs in North America and is just 35 miles to the north of La Casa Serenidad.

Q: WHERE CAN I SURF?
A: There are many local beaches to surf, including the local favorite, “Ship Wreck,” a few miles north of La Casa Serenidad.

Q: IS HORSE BACK RIDING AVAILABLE?
A: Horse back riding is available in Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo.

Q: ARE DOCTORS NEARBY?
A: Doctors, nurses, and hospitals are located in Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo.

Q: WHAT IS THE LOCAL CURRENCY?
A: The local currency is pesos. It’s best to purchase pesos prior to your arrival in Baja. Most local bars and restaurants accept major credit cards. ATM machines are located throughout Los Cabos.

Q: WHAT AIRLINES FLY TO LOS CABOS?
A: There are many airlines that fly to Los Cabos, including Alaska, AeroMexico, America West, American, Continental, Frontier, Mexicana, Delta Airlines, and Volaris Airlines.

Q: WHAT IS THE DRINKING AGE?
A: The drinking age in Mexico is 18.

Q: WHERE CAN I PURCHASE BEER AND WINE?
A: Wine, beer and liquor can be purchased throughout Los Cabos, including Costco.

Q: HOW’S THE FISHING IN LOS CABOS?
A: Los Cabos is known as the Marlin capital of the world. The peak season is generally between mid October through December. Stripped Marlins are caught within 20 miles of Cabo San Lucas. Dorado, Yellow Fin Tuna and Wahoo are also readily available. Local charters are available in Cabo San Lucas at the marina, or local panga boats can be hired to pick you up at the beach in front of the Main Casa.

Q: WHAT’S THE NIGHT LIFE LIKE IN LOS CABOS?
A: Cabo San Lucas offers great night life, including the “Hard Rock Café,” “Giggling Marlin,” “Squid Roe,” and “Cabo Wabo.” In San Jose del Cabo, the “Tropicana” has music for listening and dancing.

Q: WHAT TYPE OF ELECTRICITY IS AVAILABLE?
A: La Casa Serenidad is solar powered. Solar energy is stored in batteries and converted to 110 volts, the same power as in the U. S. or Canada.

Q: CAN I PURCHASE CUBAN CIGARS?
A: Cuban cigars can be purchased in Cabo San Lucas or in San Jose del Cabo. They are expensive and cannot be brought back into the US.

Q: WHAT IS THE CLOSEST AIRPORT?
A: San Jose del Cabo International Airport or “SJD.”

Q: WHAT IS THE DRIVING DISTANCE AND TIME FROM TIJUANA?
A: From Tijuana to Cabo San Lucas, it is approx. 1,061 miles. The primary road is route # 1. It is a very scenic and safe drive. Driving at night is not recommended, and plan 2-twelve hour days for the drive.

Q: WHAT IS THE FLYING TIME?
A: Flying time from San Diego is approximately two hours; from San Francisco, approximately three hours; from Los Angeles, approximately two hours, twenty minutes; and, from Phoenix, approximately two hours.

Q: WHAT TIME ZONE IS LOS CABOS?
A: Los Cabos is on Mountain Time.

Q: WHAT IS THE SHOPPING LIKE IN LOS CABOS?
A: The opportunity for shopping is Los Cabos is endless, including: Mexican crafts, high quality pottery, art, clothing stores, jewelry stores, open-air bazaars, designer boutiques and souvenir shops. Many stores in San Jose Del Cabo are housed in historic buildings and sell local crafts, pewter, Mexican ceramics, woven rugs and wood furniture.

A: Yes, La Casa Serenidad has both players available.

Q: WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
A: Bathing suit, sun screen, personal toiletries, CD's, DVD's, camera, film, etc. Towels, washcloths, linens and pillows are provided.
